Trading on the Kuwait Stock Exchange was halted on Thursday 23 October 2008 after a court ordered the stock market’s closure, as investor worries about greater losses mounted amid a fall out from the global financial crisis.

The Ruling by the Administrative Court in Kuwait City stemmed from a lawsuit filed by Attorney Adel Abdul Hadi on behalf of two stock brokers looking to halt recent steep declines in the region’s second largest stock market.
