Kuwait Public Prosecutor appears set to withdraw key conspiracy charge against six Kuwaitis on trial for plotting attacks against US Military Base Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. The suspects were arrested in August 2009 on grounds of plotting to bomb Camp Arifjan.
The suspects had alleged that they were tortured while in custody and that their confessions were obtained under duress. The defence lawyers told the court that they were prevented from meeting with their clients during interrogation sessions by the Public Prosecution as their request to be present during the sessions had been turned down by the Prosecution. Al Oula Law’s Founder and Principal Partner Mr. Adel Abdul Hadi is one of the defence attorneys in this case.
